Due to a combination of high levels of air pollution and temperatures, today's cold crop distribution will be postponed. The updated distribution dates are:
Wednesday, July 16 from 4-6:30pm
Monday, July 21 from 4-6:30pm
Tuesday, July 29 from 4-6:30pm
As of this morning, the air quality at the KGD Farm is above 150 AQI, which is considered unhealthy. Combined with the high humidity and temperatures in the upper 80s, the conditions are especially challenging for outdoor work. With deep consideration for our community in these conditions, it is currently unsafe for folks to do strenuous, outdoor activities - particularly kids, seniors, and those with respiratory or heart conditions.
We urge you to keep these factors in mind, too, when working in your own farm or garden. We use PurpleAir and AirNow.gov to monitor air quality. As growers, we frequently check weather conditions and air quality. Various apps and websites may have different reports when it comes to air quality due to varying qualities of equipment, averaging times, accounting for multiple pollutants, and additional data points to determine the current levels or air pollution.
Things to consider regarding air quality:

How's it going in the past 3 hours?
Any air quality warnings on any of the apps you use?

Severe Weather: Please note that we will need to postpone or reschedule distribution in case of severe weather including wind exceeding 35 miles per hour, heavy rain or snowfall exceeding 1 inch per hour, temperatures exceeding 95°F or below 32°F, thunder or lightning, or air quality index at or above 150.

Parking
KGD Farm is located at 3100 Orleans St, Detroit, MI 48207. Parking in the lot across the street from the farm (entrances to the lot are on Wilkin St. and Riopelle St). There is also street parking available on Erskine St. for easier accessibility. Parking is not allowed on Orleans St.
Our garden community is blooming—and so is the excitement at distribution! With more growers joining us, things are getting busier (in the best way). While our goal is to keep your wait time under 30 minutes, we also want the experience to be enjoyable. To keep things moving and fun, we’re adding more pick-up stations—so you can spend less time waiting and more time growing!
What to Expect
Plan to spend up to 30 minutes at distribution, especially if you arrive right at the start. If your schedule allows, consider coming a bit later during the distribution window—lines are usually shorter then.
When you arrive, check in at the check-in table next to the farm entrance.

A swap table will be available for growers to exchange seeds and transplants.
